Austin and the Hill Country

More evenings on the porch, April to October

Mosquito and tick service for the yards of Central Texas, run on a season schedule we write down before the first visit. A family firm, with a person who answers the phone.

The season

One season, April to October

Mosquitoes follow heat and rain, and ticks follow the leaf litter, so the visits follow them. This is the schedule we write down for every yard.

  • Yard walk and breeding-spot map

We walk the whole yard, mark where water stands and where the shade stays damp, and put it on a one-page map.

    Mar to Apr

  • Tick edges

Leaf litter, fence lines and the shady edge where the lawn meets the greenbelt.

    Mar to Jun

  • Spring barrier visits

The first treatments go on foliage, fences and under decks as the evenings warm up.

    Apr to May

  • Summer visits, every three to four weeks

Heat and a good rain bring them back in waves, so the visits stay on the calendar.

    Jun to Aug

  • Fall rains and the second tick season

Cooler nights and fall rain bring both back for a while. Visits run until the first hard cold.

    Sep to Oct

  • Season wrap-up note

A written note on what we found, what worked and what we'd change next April.

    Oct

Dates are typical for Central Texas. A warm winter or a wet fall moves them, and we tell you when we change the plan.

The plans

Spray, misting or natural oils: one visit and a whole season

The same yard, three ways. Each plan shows how many visits April to October takes and what comes with them, so you can compare them side by side before the yard walk.

  • Barrier spray

A treatment on foliage, fences and shaded spots that cuts mosquitoes for about three to four weeks at a time.

Shown for a typical yard under half an acre; shade, standing water and bigger lots change the plan, and the price is written before we treat. Re-treatment between visits is at no charge when you call or text within 14 days of a visit and the areas are on your yard map; it doesn't cover new standing water. No contract: cancel before the next visit. Treatments reduce mosquitoes, they don't eliminate them.

A visit

You don't have to be home

Our applicator walks your yard map, treats the marked areas and leaves you a note. A typical yard takes about an hour.

What you get each visit

  • A text when we're on the way and when we've left

  • Unlock the gate and tell us about the dogs; that's all we need

  • Respirator and gloves on, product label followed

  • A note afterward: what we treated, where to keep kids and pets off, and when it's dry

What we treat

Four jobs in the yard

Pick one or combine them. Most yards start with a barrier spray and add the tick edge.

  • Barrier spray

A treatment on the foliage, fences and shaded spots where mosquitoes rest in the day.

  • Misting systems

Nozzles on a timer along the fence line, installed once and refilled on a schedule.

  • Natural oils

Plant-oil formulas for yards that want a different product, on a closer schedule.

  • Tick control

Neighbors

What yards were like after

“We had a birthday on a Saturday in June. They'd treated on Thursday, and we sat out until dark with a couple of bites between us.”

Bryson L.Anderson Mill

“The map of where water collects was the useful part. I moved two planters and fixed a drain because of it.”

Pallavi N.Wells Branch

“We back up to the greenbelt, so ticks were my worry. They flagged the fence line and the leaf litter, and they were back in the fall.”

Sameh A.Driftwood

“The misting system went in on a Tuesday, and the first refill was already on the schedule they wrote on the estimate.”

Questions before the yard walk

How much does mosquito control cost?

It depends on the yard and the method. Lot size, shade, standing water and how often the method runs all move it. The yard walk sets your number, and you get it in writing before we treat anything.

How often do you come?

Every three to four weeks from April to October for a barrier spray or a misting refill, and about every three weeks for natural oils. The schedule goes on the estimate, with the dates we expect, so you can plan a party around it.

What about kids and pets?

Our applicators follow the product label on every visit. We tell you which parts of the yard to keep kids and pets off, and for how long, and we text you when it has dried. Ask us for the product list and we'll send it.

Will I have no mosquitoes?

No treatment does that. A good one cuts the number a lot, most of the time, for a few weeks at a stretch. Rain, heat and a neighbor's pond all change it. If they're back sooner than they should be, call or text and we come back to re-treat the same areas.

Do I need to be home?

No. Unlock the gate, tell us about any dogs, and we'll text when we arrive and when we leave, with a note on what we treated.

Is there a contract?

No. A season is written on the estimate as a list of visits. To stop, call or text us before the next visit and we cancel the ones left. You pay for the visits we've done.
